“Waterproof” and “water resistant” are not interchangeable. For cleaning and bathroom use, the difference matters because electronics, seals and charging contacts have limits.

Water resistant usually means limited exposure

A water-resistant product may tolerate splashes or rinsing but not full submersion. The exact limit depends on the manufacturer’s specification.

Waterproof should still have defined conditions

Even when a product is marketed as waterproof, check whether the maker gives an IP rating or specific depth/time guidance. Waterproofing can also depend on charging-port covers being properly closed.

Magnetic charging contacts are not a universal guarantee

Exposed metal charging contacts are common on waterproof designs, but that does not automatically mean the entire product can be submerged. Follow the manual.

Why this matters for cleaning

A fully waterproof product is often easier to rinse, while a water-resistant product may require a damp-cloth method around electronic sections.
