Material labels can sound reassuring while telling you very little. Terms such as “premium,” “soft touch” or “body friendly” are marketing descriptions, not precise material names. Look for the actual material used in the part that contacts the body.

Look for specific material names

Common labels include silicone, ABS plastic, glass and stainless steel. A product may use more than one material, especially if it has a rigid internal body with a softer outer coating.

Do not assume every silicone label means the same thing

Quality, finish and construction differ between products. The useful information is whether the manufacturer clearly identifies the material and provides compatible cleaning instructions.

Coatings deserve attention

A product may describe the outer surface as silicone while the internal structure is another material. That is normal, but care instructions should account for the full construction, electronics and seams.

Cleaning compatibility matters

Choose cleaners and storage methods based on the maker’s instructions. Avoid assuming that a method safe for one product is safe for every material.

How ShyTouch recommends products

We prioritize fit, material clarity, ease of cleaning, privacy, warranty and useful features. Partner relationships do not change our basic evaluation criteria.
